Search engine submission

Submitting your site to the search engines

Submitting your web site to the search engines.

Search engines -actually we have reached the point where Google dominates the market. Go to them and look for the ADD URL section. As I said before, be patient -they can take some time to list you. Don't subscribe to services that claim to get you listed with 500 search engines -most of the others simply borrow from the major engines.

Once you have been listed, do not send repeat requests for listing -better to check regularly and only resubmit only if you disappear from the listings.

Advertising -personally I would avoid using paid search engine submissions. However if you are in a hurry to promote your site, or the commercial returns are great enough to justify the expense, then there are a number available. Again, try to concentrate on search engines that serve your geographic region. Probably the best bet is to stick to Overture as it handles the major search engines.

Alternatively I suggest bidding for keywords -this way you can target traffic interested in your subject. Try Google adwords -signifcant keywords can be expensive, but it is still possible to bid for less obvious words at a reasonable price.
